Se muestra estos días y se mantendrá hasta el 20 de enero en el Circulo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, una mas que interesante e inusual exposición sobre la Psicodelia, en la cultura visual del la era beat (1962-1972). Si temor a equivocarme, creo que esta debe ser la primera vez que se exponen en Madrid esta cantidad de artefactos artísticos de la Era Psicodélica. Se trata de parte de la colección particular del historiador del arte y coleccionista checo-germano, Zdenek Primus.
La selección de piezas expuestas incluye numerosos carteles psicodélicos de San Francisco, carteles de rock checos y otros países, mas de 300 portadas de los álbumes mas emblemáticos de la era, así como revistas pioneras de la contracultura como el Oracle de San Francisco, la británica OZ, o la checa Pop Music Express. Se exponen también libros y folletos de diseño psicodélico sobre música y cultura underground.
Como es evidente, parte de nuestro interés se centro en comprobar la presencia de los Grateful Dead en la muestra, algo que se plasma en numerosas piezas. La exposición cuenta con 21 carteles de conciertos de los Grateful Dead en el Avalon Ballroom y el Fillmore West de San Francisco entre los años 66 y 70 pertenecientes a las series numeradas The Family Dog (FD) y Bill Graham Presents (BG), los cuales aquí incluimos con su numeración original y el nombre del artista autor de cada cartel. mas el cartel de Festival Woodstock. También figuran las portadas de los álbumes mas emblemáticos de esa época de la banda, así como un par de ejemplares del Rolling Stone y la Royal's World Countdown. En Estación Terrapin celebramos con gran regocijo esta inaudita presencia de la cultura deadhead en Madrid así como el resto de piezas de la era psicodélica, con esta recopilación gráfica a cargo de © Miguel Solís, mas la marca de la casa con algo de info añadida como son los links a las paginas de los artistas y las grabaciones disponibles de los shows. It is shown these days and will remain until January 20 at the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, a more than interesting and unusual exhibition on Psychedelia, in the visual culture of the beat era (1962-1972). If I am afraid of making a mistake, I think that this must be the first time that this amount of artistic artifacts from the Psychedelic Era are exhibited in Madrid. It is part of the private collection of the Czech-German art historian and collector, Zdenek Primus.
The selection of exhibits includes numerous psychedelic posters from San Francisco, Czech rock posters and other countries, more than 300 covers of the most emblematic albums of the era, as well as pioneering counterculture magazines such as the Oracle of San Francisco, the British OZ, or the Czech Pop Music Express. Books and brochures of psychedelic design on music and underground culture are also on display.
As it can not be otherwise, part of our interest was focused on checking the presence of the Grateful Dead in the Expo, something that is reflected in numerous pieces. The exhibition features 21 concert posters of the Grateful Dead in the Avalon Ballroom and the Fillmore West in San Francisco between 66 and 70, belonging to the numbered series The Family Dog (FD) and Bill Graham Presents (BG), which we include here with their original numbering and the name of the author of each poster, plus the Woodstock Festival poster. Also featured are the covers of the most emblematic albums of that era of the band, as well as a couple of copies of the Rolling Stone and the Royal's World Countdown. In Estación Terrapin we celebrated with great joy this unprecedented presence of the deadhead culture in Madrid as well as the rest of the pieces of the psychedelic era, with this graphic compilation by © Miguel Solís, plus the brand of the house with some added info such as links to the pages of the artists and the available recordings of the shows.
