Se cumplen hoy 70 años del nacimiento del músico mas emblemático, genial, mas querido y añorado que ha dado la música americana en los últimos 50 años, Jerry Garcia. Millones de fieles seguidores deadheads alrededor del mundo conmemoramos hoy esta tan marcada fecha del calendario, y son cientos las celebraciones que se durante esta semana se encargan de conmemorar tanto el nacimiento hace 70 años, como su triste fallecimiento hace 17 años.
Estación Terrapin, el único radio show y blog español dedicado a los Grateful Dead se une a esta conmemoración con la emisión de dos programas especiales los dos próximos viernes, 3 y 10 de agosto.

Move me Brightly. Conmemorando el 70 cumpleaños de Jerry Garcia

Este próximo viernes, día 3 de Agosto, dos días despues de que Jerry Garcia hubiera cumplido 70 años, miembros y familia de los Grateful Dead celebran la ocasión con una fiesta musical on-line, que será retransmitida vía streaming desde los TRI Studios, en San Rafael, CA de su compañero y fiel amigo Bobby Weir.

El actor Luke Wilson será el maestro de ceremonias del espectáculo para el que muy apropiadamente se ha elegido el titulo Move Me Brightly, escogido de la estrofa de la composición de Jerry Garcia y Robert Hunter, Terrapin Station.

Carlos Santana honrara a Garcia con una video entrevista, David Crosby leerá su propio tributo poético "Cause I'm Missing Him Tonight", escrito especialmente para su viejo amigo, las hijas de Garcia, su hermano Tiff y su ex-mujer Carolyn "Mountain Girl" Garcia estaran de la mano junto al mas alto deadhead del mundo Will Walton.

Bobby Weir dirigirá una creciente línea de los músicos que actuarán, entre ellos el hijo de Willie Nelson, Lukas Nelson, Joe Russo y Jeff Chimenti desde Furthur, Mike Gordon, de Phish, el hijo de Paul Simon, Harper Simon, y el psicodélico músico de folk Jonathan Wilson y el cantautor del área de la Bahía Cass McCombs .

"La magia de Jerry sigue estando ahí", ha dicho el productor Justin Kreutzmann, de 43 años de edad, hijo del batería de los Grateful Dead, Bill Kreutzmann. "Toda esta gente estupenda quiso estar implicada, pero no para coger el pañuelo y hablar de los viejos días. Todo con Jerry giraba alrededor del buen humor y la buena musica, así que estamos tratando de hacer esto de una manera que le hiciera reír ".

El espectáculo comenzará a las 6:30 PM (West Coast Time) del 3 de agosto , que serán las 3:30 de la madrugada en España a través de www.tristudios.com. También será transmitido en vivo en www.yahoo.com. Un nativo de San Francisco, García murió de un ataque al corazón en 1995 a los 53 años.
